| Talisman is constantly being traded on
eBay
as it's popularity goes from strength to strength. I have spoken directly to
Games Workshop to establish whether they are planning to re-release Talisman in
the near future. The fact that they have no plans to do so, is responsible for
keeping second hand pricing high. Below are numerous screen shots of Talisman trading on eBay giving you and indication of the kind of prices that are being paid. There is also a picture of the complete set that I purchased from some very pleasant chap in the US. I don't think so! I have not seen a complete set trade for this price, let alone one that is missing an expansion set. It does appear however that the prices on www.eBay.co.uk are higher than those on www.eBay.com
TALISMAN + 6 EXPANSION SETS TopThe whole game complete .... and if you read carefully this seller claims that it has only been played 5 times, thus it is in mint condition. What is more interesting is the fact that it has all the boxes. It is extremely rare for expansion sets to go up for auction complete with their boxes. As a complete games with all expansion sets can fit happily in the original game box there was a tendency to dispose of the boxes. This eventually sold for $750 (£460) .... a good investment no doubt.
TALISMAN DRAGONS Top£300 is a little steep although this was a very good boxed example. It is not often that 'Dragons' comes up for auction, but when it does the price ranges from £150 - £250. This is by far the most sought after expansion set. The highest I have seen any of the other expansion sets sell for is around £70.
TALISMAN - INDIVIDUAL TopThis gives a good idea of the worth of each set as this seller has decided to list them individually. Note how much more 'Dragons' is being sold for.
TALISMAN + 5 EXPANSION SETS TopActually it was Talisman + 6 expansion sets; this is the copy I purchased from eBay in June 2003. The seller did not realise that the Adventure and Expansion sets were separate. I was provided with a full list of contents and established that this was indeed a full set. It eventually sold for $540 (£330) but only after I got up at 4:00am one Wednesday morning to ensure my bidding was successful. The icing on the cake was that once it arrived it was apparent that the seller had hardly ever played the game with all cards, boards, counters and instructions in mint or near mint condition ....... bargain.
TALISMAN TopTalisman 2nd Edition just on it's own and for £22. It's a great game without all the expansion sets. I bought this one so that I could one day introduce my children to the world of Talisman, and I couldn't have them playing with my mint set now .... could I.
TALISMAN DRAGONS (MINT) TopVery rare, Talisman Dragons in mint condition; actually none of the cards had even been punched. Unfortunately the seller did not have the box, if they had then this would have gone for a lot more than the eventual £229 selling price.
TALISMAN + 6 EXPANSION SETS + LEAD FIGURES TopSo is this it, the complete Talisman with all the boxes plus lead figures of each character ..... at £685 it wants to be!!
